Mr. Hays brings a lifetime of experience, commitment and safety to Surry Driving School. With over 30 years as a first responder and an extensive background in professional driving, he understands firsthand the responsibility that comes with being behind the wheel. Safety for you and especially for your child is always his number one priority.

Throughout his career, Mr. Hays has taught emergency vehicle operation courses EVOC, raced asphault circle track stock cars and road courses, and driven fire engines and ambulances in some of the busiest areas of the country. This unique combination of real-world driving, emergency response, and instructional experience allows him to prepare new drivers with confidence, skill, and sound judgment.

After raising four children and retiring from a career in firefighting and paramedicine, Mr. Hays transitioned into driver education. Following three years of experience as a licensed and certified North Carolina Driving Instructor for a private school, he recognized a growing need in his own community. This inspired him to open his own driving school to provide Surry County with safe, responsible, and confident instruction.
